GRAMMAR IN USE / Unit 01 Present continuous (I am doing)

우선 예시부터 들어보기.
- She’s driving to work
= She is driving now, at the time of speaking
I am doing something
= I started doing it and I haven’t finished
(I’m in the middle of doing it) → 무언가를 하는 도중이다
그러나, 어떤 행동을 하는 도중이 아닐 때에도, present continuous 시제 사용 가능
(예시)
I’m reading a really good book at the moment. It’s ~~
→ I’m reading 이라고 말하고 있지만, 말하는 도중에 책을 읽고 있는 것은 아님.
= He has started reading the book, but has not finished it yet. He is in the middle of reading it.
- Kate wants to work in Italy, so she’s learning Italian.
- Some friends of mine are building their own house. They hope to finish it next summer.
Today/ this week / this year 등의 표현과도 함께 사용가능
즉, 지금과 가까운 기간 내에 대한 표현으로 present continuous 시제 사용 가능
- You’re working hard today.
- The company I work for isn’t doing so well this year.
막 일어나기 시작한 변화에 대해서 이야기할 때도 사용 가능
Getting, becoming, starting, beginning
Changing, improving, increasing, rising, falling, growing

- Is your English getting better?
- The population of the world is increasing very fast.
- At first I didn’t like my job, but I’m starting to enjoy it now.
